Rich Brian spreads his wings again with ‘Butterfly,’ a cinematic new single that marks his most vulnerable and artistically daring release yet. Teased on a Twitch livestream with d4vd, the self-produced track is a raw reflection on insecurity and emotional turbulence, wrapped in lush analog textures and a beat Brian likens to “Human Nature if it had 808s.”
The track arrives with a striking Jared Hogan-directed music video, continuing the surreal narrative of his previous single ‘Little Ray of Light.’ This time, we see Brian as the maestro, orchestrating a hybrid human-animal ensemble and confronting dual versions of himself – tender and tempestuous – in a crescendo of self-discovery.
‘Butterfly’ is a preview of his upcoming album Where Is My Head?, due 23 May, marking his full-length return since 2019. After a quiet stretch, Brian is back, more honest, evolved, and ambitious than ever.
