Following the release of his sophomore solo album Method Adaptor last November, Ely Buendia unveils a phenomenal remix album via Offshore Music— featuring a sprawling collection of reinterpretations by some of the most talented producers working today.
Featuring Filipino virtuosos like rock legends Squid 9, budots pioneer DJ Love, and others, Method Adaptor Remixed, much like its name, adapts with the changing times. More than just remixes, they are nouveau spins on mood, composition, and vibe.
'Bulaklak Sa Buwan (DJ Love Remix)' is an unexpected yet welcome reimagining of Buendia’s convivial track. DJ Love, known for his pioneering the budots genre transforms the original piece into a distinctly Filipino EDM experience. Exhilarating and fresh, high-octane and revitalizing, the remix is something never seen before from Buendia. This crowd-pleaser may just be the new go-to Jeepney tune.
Meanwhile, 'Tagpi-Tagping Piraso (Squid 9 Remix)' finds Squid 9 re-envisioning the composition into something more harrowing, almost haunting. The lyrics speak of a bygone time, fragmented pieces, (tagpi-tagping piraso) and emotional despairs paint a picture of yearning and growth. An allusion to Buendia’s last album release 15 years ago, nostalgia weaves its way into Squid 9’s dark indietronica remix.
