For Jan Roberts, his latest release Hingalo isn’t just another song—it’s the realisation of a long-held dream. The track marks his first collaboration with Shirebound, one of the artists who inspired him to start writing music.

“When I first met Shirebound, I was too shy to approach to take a picture,” Jan recalls. “Until we became friends, and while I was working on the song, I wanted to collaborate with someone at that time—and there you go, he was game!”

From fan to collaborator, Jan’s journey adds emotional weight to a track already heavy with meaning. ‘Hingalo’ is a song about the slow death of a love once whole. It tells the story of someone who gave everything in a relationship—until there was nothing left. It’s exhaustion, self-sacrifice, and ultimately, a reclaiming of self-worth.

With Shirebound’s signature touch, ‘Hingalo’ becomes more than just a collab—it’s a meeting of two generations in the OPM scene. A symbolic passing of the torch told through stirring harmonies and raw lyricism.

Jan first found an audience during the pandemic through Discord busking, eventually breaking out with the viral hit ‘Sagip’. His track Hirap Kalimutan racked up over 500,000 Spotify streams in its first week and trended at #23 on YouTube. Known for his emotional honesty and tender melodies, Jan has become a rising voice in the local music scene.

With ‘Hingalo’, he delivers one of his most personal songs yet—and celebrates just how far a dream can take you.
