Chloe Qisha is done playing it safe. The rising Malaysian alt-pop artist has dropped her sophomore EP Modern Romance, a dazzling, sharply crafted body of work that pushes her sonic and lyrical boundaries into bold new territory. Alongside the release, she’s also shared the music video for lead single ‘The Boys’— a vibrant, emotionally charged visual that cements her status as one of the UK’s most exciting voices.

The five-track EP explores the chaos and contradictions of dating in the digital age, framed through Chloe’s playful yet poignant perspective. Think heartbreak on the dancefloor, confessions via late-night texts, and the messy beauty of modern connection. Produced by longtime collaborator Rob Milton, Modern Romance is sonically sleek and unashamedly pop, pulling influences from 2000s girlband glamour, bedroom pop introspection, and indie-electro grit.

Modern Romance is the project of my dreams,” Chloe shares. “She’s the rambunctious younger sister to my debut — louder, bolder, and not afraid to speak her mind. Every track reflects a different shade of love: passionate, petty, playful, and painfully real.”

The EP at a glance:

  • ‘21st Century Cool Girl’ kicks off with pure confidence — a pop manifesto about reclaiming your identity in a curated world.

  • The title track, ‘Modern Romance’, is a dreamy, synth-laced number that asks what love even means when your DMs are always open.

  • ‘Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread’ swings between rebellion and reflection, pairing festival-ready beats with lyrics that hit a little too close to home.

  • ‘The Boys’ is the crown jewel — a biting, bittersweet anthem about emotional games and the girls who’ve had enough.

  • Closing track ‘A-Game’ sees Chloe deliver her fiercest vocals yet, rising above the noise with razor-sharp hooks and zero apologies.
