Filipino alternative rock band Novacain are back with their first original track of the year, a heavy-hitting single titled 'Binhi' ('Seed' in Filipino).

Inspired by a true story, 'Binhi' tackles the raw emotional weight of an unplanned pregnancy through the lens of a young woman’s experience. It’s an intimate and haunting narrative, made even more gripping by the band’s return to their grunge roots.

NovacainLawrence Del Rosario (vocals/guitar), Kyle Enriquez (bass), and Juan Granda (drums) — channel the gritty sonic spirit of Nevermind and Carbon Stereoxide with drop D dissonance, brooding riffs, and an almost visceral live energy. “The heaviness in our live sound also came back because of it,” Del Rosario shares. “It’s always fun to see the feedback of the crowd whenever we perform the heavier songs.”

Originally written on acoustic guitar back in May 2023, the track slowly evolved through 2024 with full-band production. 'Binhi' marks a bold sonic departure from the stripped-down vibe of the acoustic version of 'Pusta', released in March this year.

'Binhi' and 'Pusta' are part of a forthcoming all-Tagalog EP expected later in 2025. The band also teased upcoming merch drops and a special performance music video for 'Binhi', slated for release in June.

As they gear up for this next chapter, Enriquez adds, “It feels like the start of a new chapter for the band.”
